PIE is a digital online mapping based data consultancy, specialising in the supply of industry leading mapping solutions for a variety of high profile organisations. PIE is looking for an experienced, professional and enthusiastic Web Developer to join their team responsible for high-profile client websites and digital content.  PIE has to deliver some of the critical web mapping services to TfL as part of the events across London during 2012.  The role requires an excellent knowledge of PHP, Python, XHTML and CSS, as well as strong JavaScript and a development pedigree.    We are based in London (Kings Cross) so ideally suited for London based or easier commuter to Kings Cross. 

Responsibilities will include:

•	Further development and maintenance of already built web based solutions (PHP, Python, MySQL and PostgreSQL)
•	Contributing to design and build of all front-end components (mark-up, client-side scripting, API integration etc)
•	Writing and testing JavaScript applications using AJAX, DOM manipulation and use of JavaScript libraries
•	Ensuring that all technical possibilities are explored and that projects achieve the best possible look, feel, user experience and functionality
•	Building interactive prototypes/proof of concept mock-ups, either for user testing or internal review
•	Documenting all code and working within existing development environments

You will need proven industry experience in the following areas:
•	PHP
•	Python
•	AJAX, SOAP
•	PostgreSQL, MySQL, JSON and XML
•	XHTML (Including web standards)
•	JavaScript (JQuery) 
•	Cross-browser compatibility and hacks
•	Full software development lifecycle experience needed from specification, production to going live (implementation)
•	Working knowledge of Linux and Apache
•	SVN

Desirable technical awareness:
•	SEO
•	Google Maps API
•	Knowledge of open source GIS software and libraries

Desirable:
•	Awareness of what is at the cutting edge and how it can be used to enhance client work
•	A good eye for design
•	Knowledge of user experience design and information architecture principles and techniques
