Museums Sheffield presents: Touching the Virtual

A day of sharing for anyone interested in 3D digitisation: development, funding, & learning potential

Tuesday 31 January 2012

10am - 3.30pm, Millennium Gallery, Sheffield. Full day £15, half day £10 (refreshments/lunch included)

Touching the Virtual will explore the recent Rapid 3D Digitisation of Museums Sheffield’s Designated Metalwork collection, the results of which are now online:

http://www.museums-sheffield.org.uk/collections/objects-in-3d/

Working with fast 3D scanning technologies developed at Sheffield Hallam University, the project has created new ways of accessing and viewing objects that are too delicate or unsuitable for handling. The project has created a permanent digital record of the Metalwork collection for use by Collections and Learning teams and improved public access.
