The Interdisciplinary Centre for Urban Culture and Public Space (SKuOR) at the Department of Spatial Development, Infrastructure and Environmental Planning, Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Vienna University of Technology offers a temporary part-time predoc-position (15 hours/week, from March 1, 2012 to February 28, 2015) in the fields of urban culture
and public space, with a strong focus on multidisciplinary research on urban cultures and emerging cultural needs and practices. Possible topics: Cultural space production, building or planning cultures, cultural values in architecture and planning, critical cultural geography, systematic integration of multiple perspective approaches in urban research, and fields related. Admission conditions: Finished graduate, diploma or master studies degree in the fields of urban studies, architecture, spatial planning, cultural studies, landscape architecture, political science, sociology or equivalent studies in Austria or abroad.

Required skills: Foreign languages: English, German and a third language (fluent). Organisational skills in intercultural work, teamwork capacity as well as individual project management skills. The candidate is expected to finish his/her PhD project within the duration of employment at the Vienna University of Technology. The candidate will be involved in teaching activities
