Subject: [ica-atom-users] ICA-AtoM 1.2 release now available!

Dear ICA-AtoM Users,

The ICA-AtoM 1.2 release is now available for download from the ICA-AtoM website: http://ica-atom.org. Release 1.2 has been a year in the making and includes a number of new features, including:

*Accessions module

*Advanced Search

*Global Search and Replace for descriptions

*Bulk Import XML and CSV

*Reports for file and item lists, box lists and physical storage locations

*Rights interface based on PREMIS

ICA-AtoM 1.2 release offers a preview of the brand new Trillium theme developed for the Archives Association of Ontario Archeion Network. Trillium is a new theme based on the Twitter "Bootstrap" framework.

Thanks to the wonderful work of our volunteer Translators, the ICA-AtoM 1.2 interface is available in Dutch, French, Spanish, Slovenian and for the first time... Polish! A huge round of applause for everyone who helped with the translations - it is a big task and we appreciate your efforts.

The full list of all the new 1.2 features and enhancements is provided here: http://ica-atom.org/doc/Release_1.2

We also fixed over 150 issues in this release cycle, see: http://bit.ly/vo20vv

If you don't have access to your own webserver to install ICA-AtoM you can try release 1.2 using the online demo: http://ica-atom.org/demo.html or you can download and run your own virtual appliance copy on your PC or laptop, see: http://ica-atom.org/doc/ICA-AtoM_virtual_appliance

If you are already running ICA-AtoM 1.1 or earlier, instructions for upgrading to release 1.2 can be found on the developer's wiki at: http://qubit-toolkit.org/wiki/index.php?title=Upgrading

We are currently updating the ICA-AtoM online User Manual to include all the new features that have been introduced in release 1.2. If you are able to assist with translating the User Manual into your language, please let us know via this discussion list or get in touch with Jessica Bushey, the ICA-AtoM Community Manager, who is updating the User Manual.

As always, we relied heavily on the feedback and suggestions from the ICA-AtoM community to improve this release of the software. Please continue to send your questions and comments to the discussion list. Your input is very important.

We want to thank the organizations that have provided funding and code contributions for ICA-AtoM 1.2: The City of Vancouver Archives, the Archives Association of Ontario (AAO), and the Saskatchewan Council for Archives and Archivists (SCAA). We also want to recognize the complimentary work of the International Council on Archives which is preparing an ICA-AtoM strategy for Executive Board review at the 2012 ICA Congress. And last but not least... the amazing team at Artefactual Systems. We are proud to present this release and hope you will agree that it is a major next step for the ICA-AtoM project.

Feel free to forward this release announcement to your colleagues, listservs, etc., to help spread the word and invite the world to discover ICA-AtoM!
