Applications are invited for a full-time Research Fellow position working with Professor Edmund Sonuga-Barke in the Developmental Brain-Behaviour Laboratory (DBBL) at the University of Southampton.  The post-holder will conduct cognitive neuroscience research on populations with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and related externalising disorders such as Conduct Disorder, primarily using electrophysiological methods (ERP/EEG).

This is a wonderful opportunity for a scientist of exceptional promise to develop and sustain a long-term personal research program in the field of ADHD.  There will be opportunities for the post-holder to develop original research ideas, to collaborate with a range of internationally-leading scientists, and to contribute to doctoral and post-doctoral educational programmes.

You should be about to obtain, or already have, a PhD in cognitive neuroscience, experimental psychology, or computational neuroscience.  It is essential that you have experience with designing, conducting, and analysing Event-Related Potential (ERP) experiments. Experience of working with children or adolescents and specialist knowledge of ADHD are desirable, but not essential, as training can be given.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and experience of giving presentations, preparing academic papers, and writing grant applications. You will work in close collaboration with Professor Sonuga-Barke and colleagues within the DBBL, coordinate the various aspects of the studies, supervise junior research staff, and take an active role in the dissemination of the research findings.

The fixed term, three year post is available from January 2012.

For further details and an informal discussion please contact Professor Edmund Sonuga-Barke (02380 594604 - [log in to unmask]).

Please apply on-line through the University of Southampton website www.jobs.soton.ac.uk  or call 023 8059 2750.

The closing date for applications is 30 November 2011. Please quote reference number 060911JW in all correspondence.
