There's still a chance - if you're willing to take on US citizenship! ;)

Interesting stuff - but would also be interesting to know what results are
for secondary school, if my memory serves me right when I was at primary
school nearly all my female friends including me wanted to be teachers, of
all those I am still in contact with only one went on to be a teacher.

Not quite the same, but we ran some workshops in the top two years in
primary schools in 2009 and collected lists of jobs kids wanted to do when
they grew up and these were the results for top 10 jobs:

Boys
1 Footballer/Sportsperson
2 Engineer
3 Scientist
4 Police Officer
5 Doctor
6 Games Designer
7 Armed Forces
8 Actor
9 Pilot
10 Rally or F1 Driver

Girls
1 Teacher
2 Dancer
3 Actor
4 Vet
5 Hairdresser/Beautician
6 Sportsperson
7 Doctor
8 Work with animals
9 Designer
10 Singer

NB The sportsperson answer massively dominated the top 10 for boys with a
huge difference between that and the second place profession whereas for
girls the popularity of the jobs changed more gradually when moving down the
list. So, for instance, a higher proportion of girls than boys wanted to be
a Doctor even though it is ranked higher for boys. I have a presentation I
gave about the gender differences we encountered and if anyone is interested
I'm happy to send it to them.

All the best,

Natalie

Out of interest - does anyone know of comparable statistics for boys?
