Thank you all for your support, turns out the GP doesnt like our business and knew we would question it causing us to waste our time (he had a second one prepared and left at the desk apparently) - ho hum, approaching the season to be jolly!

Can a GP write a Med3 for a 6 month period of absence, I had thought that 3 months was the maximum. The certificate has been written for an individual recovering from a surgical wound debridement on the ankle (post fracture months ago). The individual is happily mobile although they have a large dressing in place.

Are there any guidelines that the GP have to follow or can they write whatever they want?
