Hi

I would also like to endorse the views of Michael.

We’ve also installed it and it looks as though it will be another useful tool for our academics to use when bookmarking the more “difficult” resources.

Richard

Thank you for making this available for other customers. We installed it on our SFX instance yesterday, and I am very pleased with the functionality. It works very well with a number of resources that didn’t play nicely with the Bookmarklet (in our experience anyway), such as JSTOR, EBSCO and Primo.

Regards,

Michael

Subject: Updated SFX target parser for Aspire

The newly updated SFX target parser for Talis Aspire is now available for download by SFX/Aspire customers from the El Commons Code Share site:

http://www.exlibrisgroup.org/display/SFXCC/Target+parser+for+Talis+Aspire

Thanks to colleagues at the University of Manchester and Queen Mary, University of London for their help in trying out the new parser ahead of general release.

The earlier version of the parser made use of Aspire’s bookmarking API’s support for DOI and ISBN values. Now that Aspire supports the OpenURL 1.0 standard for inbound bookmarking requests, the parser sends whatever metadata is held in the Context_Object of the SFX OpenURL to Aspire, significantly extending the number of resources which can be bookmarked in Aspire directly from SFX.

Installation of the parser requires access to the SFX Admin interface (with Target configuration editing rights) and write-access to the target parser directory of the SFX instance.

If you installed the previous version of the parser, it’s fine to overwrite the two existing files with the newer versions now available (you will need to change the target service from ‘getWebSearch’ to ‘getReference’ in SFX Admin – see the documentation at the URL above for details).

The parser, authored by Libraries and Learning Resources at Nottingham Trent University, can be downloaded and installed by any SFX customer site, but - as a customer generated script, installed in third-party proprietary software - is not directly supported by Talis.

If you experience any problems downloading, installing or using the new parser (or have any feedback) please contact me directly.

Regards
