AT THE UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD IN ASSOCIATION WITH BALLIOL COLLEGE
The University of Oxford proposes to appoint a University
Lecturer in Italian Literature in the field of Dante studies and/or other
areas of medieval Italian literature and culture. The post is in the Faculty of
Medieval and Modern Languages and will be tenable from 1 September 2012 or as
soon as possible thereafter.
Candidates should already have an outstanding research
reputation and a publications record of international quality which will
contribute substantially to the submission of the Sub-Faculty of Italian and
Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages for the Research Excellence Framework.
The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to deliver
excellent tutorial teaching and to give lectures and classes across the
range of papers in the first year (Prelims) course and in the area of
Dante and medieval literature and culture in the Final Honour School (including Dante’s Divine
Comedy, Dante’s minor works, Thirteenth-Century Italian lyric
poetry, Petrarch, and Boccaccio) as well as contributing to the teaching
of Italian language, and the teaching and supervision of graduate students, and
to act as an examiner.
The post is associated with a Tutorial Fellowship at
Balliol College and Lecturerships at St Peter’s College and at Jesus
College. The successful candidate will be appointed on the Oxford lecturer
scale (combined university and college salary £42,732 to £57,431 per
annum as at Nov 2011 plus college benefits including £5,200 pa housing
allowance and £975 pa research allowance).
