Durham Blackboard Users' Conference - open for bookings!

Bookings are coming along nicely for the Durham BB Users’ Conference on 5 & 6 January 2012.  Our early bird rate is on until the end of November so make sure you register early to make savings. You can register via the University Conference Booking System here:
http://www.dur.ac.uk/its/duo/conference/

If you are quick there’s still time to submit a paper for review – do this using this google form.  Although we have a theme of “openness” and encourage submissions exploring this theme – we also encourage anything else that might be of interest to our audience.

As a reminder, the event “knocking at the open door” will be held on Thursday the 5th and Friday and 6th  of January 2012. It will explore “openness”. This is a hot topic in education and educational technology – think of open educational resources, open source software, open standards, open learning, open courseware, open access, open to all, open all hours. What could, indeed should these terms mean to learners and teachers, the institutions and commercial interests that support, facilitate, measure, evaluate, archive, constrain or attempt to control these activities?

We have Professor Grainne Conole and Professor Ray Land delivering the keynote sessions.  Blackboard have agreed to send someone from the US to run a Blackboard Accessibility Awareness workshop which we are very interested in.  Learning Objects are running a free pre-conference workshop (see Julie Usher from Northampton if you wish to join this) on the Wednesday afternoon.

We’ll have the usual mix of client and Blackboard sessions, informal discussions, mulled wine, dinner at the Castle and Durham’s legendary Winter sunshine.

Hope to see you there,

Julie
