Is SWINY still active?

Great name. I keep trying to come up with a local ripoff.

Hi Jenny,

As Laura mentioned, the NASW is good. I'm a Brit science writer living in New York and am a member of the NASW. Would definitely recommend it. I find the 'Freelance' discussion list particularly useful.

Welcome to the States! And good luck!
Ruth

Hi Jenny,

The National Association of Science Writers might be worth a try – they have email-based discussion lists:

Good luck in Denver!

Subject: [PSCI-COM] Science communication in America?

Hello psci-commers

Do we have any American Science Communicators on here? I've just moved to Denver USA and want to find a network as useful as psci-com but in the USA. Any tips about similar organisations/networks in the USA? Looking for equivalent organisations to  "sense about science" etc. I've found a cafe scientifique but have not ventured there yet. Specifically interested in Environment, Energy and Health.

Much love,

Jenny!

PS ill be back in a few years :)
