I've been asked to present hep C specifically, lots of discussion over the last year regarding vaccination of teachers , auxiliary and classroom assistants. I would off course present a overview of all BBV. Risk assessment have been done . We are still leading towards non vaccination and hope that providing info regarding what is actually required for Hep b vaccination will put everyone off. Minimal exposure to most staff but some bites , scratches to specific staff looking after special needs pupils - inclusion for all being this councils preferred route. Looking forward to your advice and help , I'm expected to start rolling this out asap From: [log in to unmask] [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Carr Barnes Sent: 03 October 2011 12:43 To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [OCC-HEALTH] presentation for hep B vaccination Hi all I had presumed Jackie had been asked to give the presentation as part of the "public health" initiative that some places are bringing in of adding HepB to the standard childhood/teenage vaccination schedule?? Jackie can you clarify why they want you to talk to the high school and is it to students or to staff? Hep B is part of that chat - I talk about vaccination being only one measure in the prevention of spread of disease - the same exposure incident that could transmit Hep B could also spread Hep C or HIV and we cant vaccinate against those . I would be interested to know why this presentation has been requested and by whom? I am taking it that this is to staff? The issue I have within my workforce is that there is an expectation by some that "blanket vaccination" against hep B should be the norm, I disagree and only vaccinate those that do exposure prone work, and these people are identified by risk assessment. This has the capacity to get controversial on occasion...... -----Original Message----- From: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> [mailto:[log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>] On Behalf Of Heather Bearpark Sent: 03 October 2011 12:15 To: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> Subject: Re: [OCC-HEALTH] presentation for hep B vaccination Jacqui I hope you don't mind my opinion on this but I would be inclined to also concentrate on preventative actions to take regarding transmission / infection with all Blood Borne Viruses rather than concentrating on Hepatitis B and the vaccination. Pro's and con's on pre and post exposure vaccination, info on what to do after potential exposure and details of what the inoculation involves etc. Does anyone have a presentation they would be willing to share?
