Hi Sara

My understanding has always been occupational asthma and work related asthma are two different things and http://www.bohrf.org.uk/downloads/asthwork.pdf  explains it further.

You could give Prof Cullinan (think that's how you spell his surname) at the Brompton a call, attended an occ asthma workshop - he will give advice over the phone and he will also take referrals. I've picked his brains before on an obscure case.

Well worth the call.

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Occupational Asthma

Dear All

Does anyone have any experience with Occupational asthma diagnosis? I have two OHP reports, one stating the employee has occupational asthma and should be reported under RIDDOR. The initial diagnosis/RIDDOR report is now 18 months old and being disputed by another OHP and feels a specialist respiratory referrral (as suggested by the first Physician) would be unnecessary and if still required by the company should be accessed privately through the GP. His recommendations of reducing exposure to workplace airborne irritants as reasonably practicable does not mean the work place is causing his asthma???? Previous medical info as far as i am aware, is that he experienced asthma symptoms at age 2/3, but nothing since until recently at work. Views on this or contacts in this field i could discuss this with would be greatly appreciated.
