Hi again Chris

As I would say to anyone who reported similar concerns I can only advise in line with current medical/ergonomic best practice based on reducing the risk of ill-health outcomes and it is up to you whether you wish to take that advice.

So I am supposed to be uncomfortable now and have problems now because someone has written a standard that is supposed to apply to every individual irrespective of interindividual differences?

I have this problem regularly in my particular field. Standards have been written that are supposed to apply globally. If I were to apply these to every workplace situation my advice would in many cases be putting my client’s employees’ health at risk. Quite often a new client comes to me with occupational skin problems and the investigation reveals that part of the cause was that they had applied ‘official’ guidance that was inappropriate for the particular circumstances.

Until someone can prove to me that having a crick in my neck and suffering from eye strain, merely to have my screen and keyboard in the ‘approved’ position, is the correct approach, then I will continue with my current practice.
