I would be most grateful if you could draw the following
post, in the Meech group at the University of East Anglia, to the attention of suitable
candidates. A PhD in physical Chemistry (or similar) and experience in
ultrafast/THz spectroscopy for measurements of molecular dynamics in liquids
will be advantageous.

Further Particulars (REF: RA784)
The Post
The main duties of the post involve managing
an ultrafast laser experiment employed
for both the measurement of ultrafast
molecular dynamics in liquids and excited state
dynamics. Routine alignment and maintenance
of lasers and optical components is
essential. The post will also involve the
mathematical and statistical analysis of
experimental data and the drafting of
publications associated with it. The research
associate will also be responsible for day to
day supervision and training of research
students
The Project
We have designed and built an ultrafast laser
apparatus capable of measuring both
ground state liquid dynamics through
polarisability relaxation and excited state decay
dynamics through fluorescence up-conversion.
The project involves an investigation
of the role of the medium in controlling the
excited state dynamics of a series of
synthetic analogs of the green fluorescent
protein chromophore. This will require
expertise in either (or both) molecular
dynamics of liquids or ultrafast excited state
dynamics.
