Dear
all
To
let you know that a Digital Publishing Forum on Digital Marketing to and
with Libraries will be held on Wednesday 2 November from 4pm to 6pm,
Eng 1.02, Malet Place, UCL, London WC1, followed by a reception in the Arts
Faculty Common Room.
Libraries are a key channel for publishers and authors to
have direct contact with readers. Amongst other services, they provide a discovery
tool for new authors and subjects, venues for discussing books and showcases
for backlists and older works. Yet, these benefits fade into obscurity if they
are not communicated efficiently, and they will be lost entirely without regard
to the digital age. This forum will examine the various digital marketing
initiatives which bring together publishers, authors and libraries to promote
reading through library services.
This
seminar will be chaired by Emma House, Trade and International Director,
The Publishers Association. Speakers include Sandy Mahal,
Programme Manager, The Reading Agency, Karen Halliday, Senior Library
Marketing Manager, EMEA, Wiley, Joanna Ellis, Marketing Director of
Faber & Faber, and Jim Thompson, Development & Quality Manager,
Edinburgh Library and Information Services, City of Edinburgh Council.
There will
be ample time for questions and debate, and the seminar will be followed by
drinks and an opportunity for further networking and discussion. Fees are
£46 for PA, CILIP, SCL and other library staff members, and £92 for
non-members.

Best wishes
