We'll be at the Royal Society's fantastic Marble Room to celebrate 40 years
of CLSIG. Join fellow members, committee and special guests to reflect on
previous achievements and to toast our future. Drinks, nibbles and cake will
be provided, bring yourself and your best party outfit.

   - *CLSIG/BIALL Graduate Open Day* – 25th October

New to the profession?  Studying information?

BIALL and CLSIG invite graduate trainees, first jobbers and student
librarians to their joint annual Open Day. Information Professionals from
all parts of the workplace sector will speak about their working day and
offer tips on finding jobs in their area.  Lyn Robinson of City University
will open the day with a talk about studying information and Sue Edgar,
Recruitment Manager - Executive from Sue Hill Recruitment will advise on
your information career.  Other professionals from a variety of sectors will
give insight to their careers.  These include Sue Edgar (Sue Hill
Recruitment), Penny Bailey (Bailey Solutions), Sandra Smythe (Mishcon de
Reya Solicitors), Mark Haines (BPP University College of Professional
Studies) and Phillip Barlow (Imperial College London).

There will be visits to one of three special libraries during the day -
Wellcome Trust, British Library and the BMA. When booking please state your
preference for the visit.

   - *Internet Librarian International* - 26-28 Oct 2011 — 20% discount for
   CLSIG members!

‘Navigating the New Normal - Strategies for Success’ is the theme of this
year’s Internet Librarian International and the opening keynote speaker is
Klaus Tochtermann, who will discuss ‘How the future internet will shape
libraries’. Topics at this year’s Internet Librarian International include
emerging technologies, e-books and e-devices, new ways of measuring impact,
managing and marketing resources, the future of digital collections, search
and discovery, and advocacy and influence.
CLSIG is partnering next month’s Internet Librarian International to provide

   - *Tour of the London Library* – 31st October - Fully booked, waiting
   list in operation

CLSIG have secured a second date for this popular free tour of the London
Library <http://www.londonlibrary.co.uk/>. Over many generations the London
Library has been amassing books and periodicals covering every aspect of the
humanities to give readers, writers and researchers the riches of a national
reference library for use in their own homes or workplaces. The Library's
founding principles remain a blueprint for providing the most direct and
liberal access to knowledge.

   - *Open Library - TWI Ltd - 16th November*

Our membership survey told us that you would like more library tours
especially of other members’ libraries. Here’s the first one:

TWI Ltd is both an engineering research and consultancy company with an
international clientele and a UK professional engineering institution. We
will talk with you about what we do to serve these through our special
library, records management and database activities.
