SpLD Specialist Disability Officer Disability Advisory Service, 3 Worcester Street, Oxford Grade 8: £36,862 - £44,016 p.a.

 

The Disability Advisory Service (DAS) is looking for a SpLD Specialist Disability Officer to join the specialist team who are committed to the continued development of student support service provision.

 

The University has made a strong commitment to students with disabilities in its access Agreement to OFFA for 2012/13 and in its recent Working Group on SpLDs, whose recommendations aim to enable the collegiate University to provide a better coordinated framework of support for students with SpLDs. The DAS has an important role to play in achieving these aims throughout the Collegiate University.

You will be expected to:

• Act as the specialist SpLD adviser taking the lead in policy development in relation to this area.
• Manage the liaison with the existing group of SpLD tutors.
• Manage a small caseload of, often complex, non SpLD student work.
• Conduct an informal assessment of students' needs, including those who present with multiple and complex problems.
• Take a lead in providing expert guidance to colleges and departments on all areas of support for students with disabilities, but in particular for students with SpLDs.
