Dear Disability Practitioners, This letter is to invite you to attend a discussion group, as part a series of consultations in five regions. The purpose is to consult as widely as possible, by sharing and discussing early drafts of findings from the initial desk research. This will provide feedback to inform and shape the eventual proposals. Details: University of Westminster, Cavendish Building, 115 New Cavendish Street, London W1W 6UW, Room: C1.01 Classroom http://www.westminster.ac.uk/about/how-to-find-us/cavendish Date / Time: Friday October 14, 2011 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm Lunch at 1pm followed by discussion. As you may be aware, this project is designed to aid the development of DSA non-medical helper procurement guidance for the Student Loans Company. The guidance document will be for the SLC team to use when assessing supplier proposals and the research will address current issues of quality and value for money. The research involves identifying and developing: . a complete list of the services/roles provided by non-medical helpers and allowable within DSA regulations; . role descriptors for each service providing a clear and sufficiently detailed explanation of the nature of the service provided; . the training, range of qualifications and type/level of experience and professional standards required by the individual providing the service; and . the range of costs at which various services are delivered, both rates paid to individual non-medical helper and total charge, including overheads. Each discussion groups will include a range of stakeholders from HEIs, FE Colleges providing HE and support service provider organisations. As the number of places is limited, it is important that there is only one representative from each organisation. If the event is full, you may be placed on a reserve list. If you are unable to attend but would still like to contribute, please do not hesitate to email your comments to Sally Faraday - [log in to unmask] and Liz Maudslay - [log in to unmask] .
