Assistant Professor of Global Cultural Studies
Point Park University


About the University: 

Point Park University, a private coeducational institution located in downtown Pittsburgh, has an enrollment of approximately 4000 full- and part-time students in more than 50 majors and concentrations. Founded in 1960 as Point Park College, it is known for providing its students with an experience that combines the liberal arts with career education. The Position:

The Global Cultural Studies Program at Point Park University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the level of assistant professor.  We are looking for a candidate with strengths in political theory and/or critical media/cultural theory and first-hand research experience on issues of global concern.  Ph.D. and prior teaching experience are required.  Additional consideration will be given to applicants with proficiency in a foreign language

Duties will include: teaching undergraduate courses within the Global Cultural Studies major and the interdisciplinary Department of Humanities and Human Sciences, contributing to the ongoing development of our curriculum and international learning sites, engaging in scholarship and professional development, and serving department needs through activities such as advising students and university governance.

Qualified candidates will possess a Ph.D. in anthropology, sociology or political economy, a strong background in theory, experience as an effective and dynamic instructor, an established record of scholarship, and an interest in expanding the Global Cultural Studies curriculum and promoting its goals.
