Publication related to
AIC 2011
AIC 2011 papers by
Justyna Tarajko-Kowalska, Monica Kuo and Gisela Meyer-Hahn have been published
in TEC21 -- Magazine of the Swiss Association of Engineers and Architects (SIA),
June 3,
2011, Number 23. As well,
an interview by Katinka Corts with Verena M. Schindler appears in the same

International
Journals
AIC officially
supports two international journals:
1) Colour Research and
Application (New York), and,
2) Journal of the
International Colour Association / Association Internationale de la Couleur
(JAIC), (formerly Colour: Design & Creativity, UK).
ECD Project:
Interaction of Colour and Culture
Vojko Pogacar and
Darko Golob provided the AIC 2002 Book of Abstracts as a digitized version in
the PDF format available online, see AIC website 'History'.
ECD Discussion and
Outlook
1) Celebration of the
30th anniversary of the ECD Study Group in 2012
a. Project in
progress: Publication on the ten last years' themes, developments and
trends based on AIC papers (2002-2012) – past – present – future, by Verena
M. Schindler.
2) Activities at the
AIC 2012 "In Color We Live: Color and Environment"
a. Pre-conference
workshop on Colour Planning
b. Exhibition "Color
and Environment"
i. Ecology and
Environment;
ii. Colour Concepts
for Architecture and Urban Planning;
iii. Case
Studies.
c. A committee to
review the papers will be set up;
d. AIC 2012:
Submission of abstracts for oral papers and posters ends January 30,
2012;
e. Further
information, see AIC website 'Congresses'.
3) Colour and
Sustainability, Ecology and Well-being
Ecology and
Sustainability has become a main concern in today's
society.
Discussion:
- Karin Fridell Anter
(Sweden) and Doreen Balabanoff (Canada) relates this topic to colour and
health;
- Jean-Luc Capron
(Belgium) to light and green economic lighting policy;
- Tatiana Semenova
(Russia) is interested in the question 'How do we avoid visual pollution in
urban space?';
- Piyanan
Prasarnrajkit (Thailand) does workshops on 'What colour is
green?';
- Cristina Boeri
(Italy) is concerned about the chromatic integration of industrial sites in
urban planning;
- Leonhard Oberascher
(Austria) points out Barker's Ecological Psychology (1968), Gibson's The
Ecological Approach to Visual Perception (1979), and Reed's Encountering
the World: Toward Ecological Psychology (1996), s well as to industrial
designers' attitude;
- María Luisa Musso
(Argentina) also reminds us that already in the 1980s and 1990s ecology was a
concern, see document 'Earth_Summit 1992' online on AIC wiki
workspace.
Some fundamental
questions arise:
In past and present
environmental colour design approaches, are there significant differences?
The current trends
that are shaping our environment, will they have implications in the
future?
Outstanding ECD
members 2011
Prof. José Luis
Caivano, ECD chair (1998-2005) and Dr. Leonhard Oberascher, ECD chair
(1989-1995) and ECD co-chair (1996-2011) have been outstanding members of the
ECD study group for their long-term engagement.
