A day of case studies and workshops focused on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender youth activities taking place in libraries, archives, museums, youth centres and other settings. If you are interested in exploring the different ways in which LGBT related fiction, historical collections, performance activities and community projects can be used to engage and support young people, this day is packed with practical ideas.

10.15am ‘Youth Chances Research and Influencing Project- What are the needs of LGBT 16-25 year olds and how can we address them? Dan Baker, Youth Chances Project Manager, The Metro Centre
11.15am Ideas for Engagement Including Libraries – Jacky Logan & Campaign Make an Impact – Jan Pimblett
12pm The Laramie Project – Youth Participants and Lindsey Buchanan, Citizenship & Community Cohesion Advisor
12.45pm Tours will take place during lunchtime. Bring a picnic or buy lunch locally
2pm "No more controversial than a gardening display? Provision of LGBT related fiction to children and young people in libraries" - Liz Chapman – Information School, University of Sheffield
3.15pm Burning Issues – Talk / Practical Workshop – John Vincent and Jacky Logan. The legacy of the Burning Issues LGBT Libraries group and its achievements; changing attitudes towards LGBT people; libraries and young people; developing concrete ideas for future activities.
4.15pm Round Up and Close
