Dear colleagues,

In the latest Elsevier ranking of Dutch university programs, published 2
weeks ago, students and professors ranked the Groningen BA and MA
programs in religion as the best in the Netherlands. We are proud of
this evaluation, and at the same time we are working hard to modernize
the programs in order to respond to a changing professional and societal
landscape. Hence, it is my pleasure to announce that the Groningen
Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies will launch 4 new Master
programs (60 ECTS each) as of the academic year 2012-13, all of them
being taught entirely in the English language. The one-year programs
consist of 3 modules, 1 tutorial/internship/additional module, and a
master thesis. The new Master programs are:

- Concealed Knowledge: Gnosticism, Esotericism, and Mysticism

- Religion, Conflict, and Globalization
<http://www.rug.nl/ggw/onderwijs/maopleidingen/masterrcg/index>
- Religion in the Public Domain
<http://www.rug.nl/ggw/onderwijs/maopleidingen/masterrapd/index>
- The Origins of Abrahamic Religions: Texts and Contexts
<http://www.rug.nl/ggw/onderwijs/maopleidingen/masteroar/index>

Particularly the master /Religion, Conflict and Globalization /may be
interesting for students in anthropology, since all modules combine
anthropological, sociological and psychological perspectives.

It is also possible to combine these Master programs with the two-years
Research Master "Religion and Culture" (120 ECTS). For details, please see
http://www.rug.nl/ggw/onderwijs/maopleidingen/index?lang=en

We very much encourage international students to enroll in these
programs. If you know students who might be interested in the programs
offered by the University of Groningen, please forward this information
to them.

Thanks a lot and best wishes,

Marjo Buitelaar
