Dear colleagues,

as experts as you all are I thought you could give me some hints to the above mentioned topic. I am looking for the earliest appearance of the big sized roman/italian cattle north of the Alps and before the Roman Imperial Period.

Some weeks ago I hit upon a french publication, that mentions (not proofed) the earliest documentation of roman cattle in Gaul at the turning point of late Hallstatt to early La Tene Period. Is it a singular record or are there any further proofs from other countries? Do you know comparable results or papers dealing with the reasons for this early appearance?

All comments are appreciated.

Thanks a lot,
Mona Abd El Karem
