Maybe he should be deployed on alternative or restricted duties, if these arent available then its for his managers to decide how to account for his absence from the working environment ------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Sep 2011 19:39:16 +0100 From: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [OCC-HEALTH] fungal nail and meat industry To: [log in to unmask] Hi Tracey Although not worked in the meat industry I have had expereince within the food industry. I would not allow this person back to work until the infection had cleared. we as nurses know that a fungal infection will only breed if it is in a moist environment - blue plasters I am sure will encourage moisture. Also consider if the cream he is using has any nut derivatives in it (all depends if you follow the nut free policy) ? Not a lot of info from me however I hope it helps a little bit Karen > Date: Thu, 15 Sep 2011 19:22:09 +0100 > From: [log in to unmask] > Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] fungal nail and meat industry > To: [log in to unmask] > > Good evening > I saw an employee today who has fungal infection on two nail beds. His GP has said he can return to work as long as he keeps it dry and wears a rubber glove. The problem is he works as a butcher in a factory and needs to wash his hands several times a day and his hands are always wet despite wearing gloves. i am not sure if the blue plasters will make the nail bed swet and hinder the recovery. Suggestions please. > > ******************************** > Please remove this footer before replying. > > OCC-HEALTH ARCHIVES: > http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/occ-health.html > > CONFERENCES AND STUDY DAYS: > http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/filearea.cgi?LMGT1=OCC-HEALTH ********************************Please remove this footer before replying.OCC-HEALTH ARCHIVES:http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/occ-health.html CONFERENCES AND STUDY DAYS:http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/filearea.cgi?LMGT1=OCC-HEALTH ********************************Please remove this footer before replying.
