Sociological Research Online: Call for Rapid Response articles on the recent social unrest

A call for articles for a Rapid Response section on the recent social unrest - 'riots' - in England. The events in August 2011 in numerous, urban and rural areas around England have been reacted to in relatively simple terms, with much emphasis from media and politicians on the supposedly criminal and non-political essence of both the behaviour and the motives of many of those taking part.
For this Rapid Response we would like to encourage brief (up to 3,000 words), reflective submissions offering a more substantive understanding of these events and how they might be situated 30 years on from the urban unrest of the early 1980s and/or other contemporary contexts. All submissions will be peer reviewed.

Please submit papers in the usual way to Cathy Ternent at [log in to unmask], including an abstract, keywords and a short biography.
