Dear members,

The next meeting of the JISC Learning and Teaching Practice Experts Group will be taking place on Wednesday 19th October from 10:30 – 16:00 at Maple House, Birmingham. We are delighted to say that this will be the 24th meeting of this valued group.

The draft agenda for the meeting is attached and also available from http://www.jisc.ac.uk/whatwedo/programmes/elearningpedagogy/elearningexperts/oct11.aspx together with the online booking form. Registration for this meeting closes on the 10th October.

The theme of this meeting is Sharing Effective Practice and we have an exciting and packed agenda. We will be starting the meeting with an update from Helen Beetham,  on How are curriculum design practices and processes changing? Helen will be sharing emerging findings and challenges arising from the Institutional Approaches to Curriculum Design Programme. This will be followed by three interactive sessions from projects in the programme who will be sharing staff development resources and approaches for changing curriculum design practices and processes. We will then hear from Mark Russell and Jon Alltree, from the University of Hertfordshire, on EVS: Going beyond the enthusiast(s) and from Dale Potter from the University of Exeter, on ‘Unlocking the Hidden Curriculum: Using Augmented Reality as an Engaging and Immersive Learning Resource’

After lunch we will be hearing from Liz Masterman, from the University of Oxford, on ‘Why reinvent the wheel, when there’s great stuff out there?’ Investigating the impact of open educational resources on teaching and learning in UK universities.

We also have the popular Members Showcase to highlight innovative work which members are undertaking. The session will run as three 20 minute roundtable discussions run twice, offering members the opportunity of attending two of the three sessions. We are delighted to have the following members speaking about their recent activities:

·         The case of the Curious and the confident - the untold story of changing teacher attitudes to e-learning in the FE sector, Geoff Rebbeck and Nigel Ecclesfield, LSIS
