Hello Samantha
I am sure others will be able to send you links and suggestions
re evaluating long term impact etc but I am currently a student on our PG Cert in L&T in HE (woo
hoo – acronym overboard) and this week there was a discussion about how to determine how we are doing in the midst of sessions. I have attached it just in case it might also help.
I just did some of my homework sitting in a park up the road with a picnic lunch – making the most of the
weather:-)
Best wishes all
Ruth

Subject: evaluating impact
Hello from a very hot and sunny Leeds!
I wonder if anyone can help – I am about to roll out a series of careers events to our undergraduate Mathematicians. What I am really interested to know is what impact this activity
has on their career knowledge and aspirations. At the moment, many of the students don’t know what they want to do, and don’t engage very well with our Careers Service.
My idea is to survey the students before they start attending the workshops/events, and then again at the end to evaluate if it has had any impact.
Has anyone done anything similar, and have you any suggestions for what types of questions might help me to ascertain the impact in a meaningful way?
Many thanks
Samantha
