GTA and New Lecturer Workshops

The Economics Network is pleased to announce its Autumn Postgraduate Teaching Assistants (GTA) workshop series. The workshops complement any generic-based institutional training delegates might receive (and in
some institutions exempts attendees from parts of such training) and are facilitated by experienced economics lecturers.

The dates are:

University of Nottingham 05/10/2011
University of Sheffield 06/10/2011
University of Glasgow 07/10/2011
University of Lancaster 07/10/2011
University of York 12/10/2011


On the 14th and 15th of October the Economics Network will be holding its New Lecturers Workshop in Bristol. Aimed at new and early-career economics lecturers the main aim is to discuss and evaluate what makes
effective teaching of economics including: lecturers; seminars and small-group teaching; assessment and feedback; e-learning; module/unit design; classroom experiments and games.

Both the GTA workshops and the New Lecturers workshop are free of charge for all economists who work in a UK higher education institution.

Developments in Economics Education conference 2011

DEE 2011 took place at the London School of Economics and Political Science, 5-7 Sept. The conference offered a stimulating range of sessions highlighting some of the latest research into pedagogy in economics, as well as providing an abundance of practical advice for lecturers on how to engage students more fully in the subject.
