Drawing Matters A Big Draw Resource Day
10.30am – 3.30pm 29th September 2011
M Shed, Bristol
This year, the Professional Development Programme from the Campaign for Drawing is presenting seminars and training days throughout the country for teachers, art educators, museum/gallery/heritage officers, community group leaders and art development officers.
DRAW, Campaign for Drawing Associates for the South West, in collaboration with M Shed, Bristol’s newly opened state of the art museum, will host a day of presentations, participatory drawing resource sessions, ideas and discussions to support you and your organisation towards a successful Big Draw event.
The day will provide you with a greater understanding of the Campaign for Drawing and prepare you for the Big Draw with:
1. a presentation demonstrating how drawing can be used in a variety of settings to meet a range of objectives
2. a drawing session using a range of drawing approaches that can be adapted to your situation
3. help to plan your own Big Draw through discussion of the benefits and practical application of different drawing activities
4. a resource pack and Campaign for Drawing publications
You will have an opportunity to network and meet others with an interest in promoting drawing and the drawing process within organisations/settings in the South West.

DRAW is an independent artist group with over five years of experience working with the Campaign for Drawing on collaborative projects, community and public drawing workshops. DRAW’s approach to teaching is inclusive of all abilities with a focus on exploring the drawing process. DRAW members’ individual practices fuel the varied approaches to drawing that are used as a critical and educative tool.
DRAW has a track record for producing and facilitating innovative drawing workshops in museums, art galleries, community settings and schools.

M Shed is an exciting new museum for Bristol that tells the story of our city. lian’s discoveries, things made and created in Bristol, how we as a city have entertained ourselves and others, and how Bristol has grown and transformed into the city we see today.
The Exhibition Gallery on the top floor will host a wide-ranging programme of events and exhibitions. Find out more about our current exhibition Bristol and West: Photographs by Martin Parr. http://mshed.org/museum/events-and-exhibitions-/exhibition-bristol-and-west-photographs-by-martin-parr-/
