This seminar will draw on literature about both the therapeutic turn in education; and literature on the normalisation of middle class values and parenting. *Speakers:* *Val Gillies and Yvonne* *Robinson* (*London Southbank University*):* **‘Pupils at risk of school exclusion: exploring constructions of professional care in the classroom’. * *Jayne Osgood, Kim Allen and Sumi* *Hollingworth* (*IPSE, London Metropolitan University*): *‘Negotiating emotional identities in 'educare'’. * Free Public Seminar: All welcome but places limited so please RSVP to Angela Kamara, at the Institute for Policy Studies in Education (IPSE) [log in to unmask] tel. 020 7133 4189. These are the subjects which contribute most of the understanding and growth of our cultural heritage, and so assist in fulfilling one of the University's primary aims. These studies, which are concerned with human cultural achievements, human rights, and duties, human freedoms, will enable youth to develop the understanding and judgment necessary to the formulation of a sound philosophy of life, to the making of wise choices, and to understand what is involved in these choices..." * * *Speech by Emperor Haile Selassie I, 19th December 1961 Companies Act 2006 : http://www.londonmet.ac.uk/companyinfo
