The Crafts Council Collection is the UK’s foremost national Collection of contemporary craft.  With over 1400 objects, it provides a distinctive, authoritative view of contemporary craft in its widest sense from its interface with cutting-edge design to its crossover with visual art.  

The Collection is one of the Crafts Council’s most important assets.  These new roles will extend its profile, increasing loans, enhancing its online presence and realising its potential as a research Collection.

1) Collection Management Officer
Contract post: 18 months
Part Time 2-3 days per week, £26,000 -£29,000 Annual Salary [Full Time Equivalent] 

Responsible for managing the primary Collection, developing, implementing and maintaining policies and procedures and ensuring best practice in areas including , conservation, loans, location and movement and storage.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about collections and has a strong interest in contemporary craft

You will be educated to degree level with Museum Studies or equivalent qualification, and a minimum of three years experience in managing a museum collection,  
  
Excellent relationship and project management skills are essential.

2) Collection Research Officer
Contract post: 18 months
Part Time 2-3 days per week, £26,000 -£29,000 Annual Salary [Full Time Equivalent] 

Responsible for developing collection based and archival research relating to the Crafts Council Collection together with associated contemporary craft issues and debate. This will include enhancing online interpretation and information to provide a comprehensive digital resource that maximises links with other regional and national Collections and create a digital hub for people seeking information on contemporary craft, makers and collections.

We are seeking an individual who is excited about museum collections and archives and their related research themes and wants to make information accessible and relevant to a wide range of users.

You will be educated to degree level with a minimum of 2 years experience of academic and / or archival research, knowledge of contemporary craft debate and practice and excellent written and communication skills.
