The Systems Neuroscience of Psychopathology (SNP) laboratory at Harvard University is seeking a Full-time or Part-time Research Technician for an exciting large-scale project aimed at understanding how genes affect the brain to influence risk for addiction, aggression, and antisocial behavior.


*Responsibilities*

The Research Technician's primary responsibilities will include: 1) Implementing and maintaining an automated processing pipeline for a large multimodal imaging study comprised of multiple functional tasks, DTI, resting-state data, and radioligand PET; 2) programming new behavioral and fMRI tasks, and all necessary data analysis and data management scripts; 3) Organizing demographic, behavioral, and imaging data into a secure database (e.g. REDcap, XNAT), 4) general lab computing and network administration (including data management and archiving)

*Requirements*

B.A., B.S. or equivalent with background in experimental psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, computer science, mathematics, engineering or related field. Candidates should excellent technical abilities, exceptional programming skills (e.g. MATLAB, Python, Perl and/or other scripting languages) and comfort with diverse computing environments. In addition, the successful applicant will have significant prior hands-on experience acquiring and analyzing human neuroimaging imaging data using commonly available statistical packages (e.g. SPM, FSL, AFNI, BrainVoyager), as well as significant prior experience with task presentation software (e.g. E-prime, Presentation, Psychophysics Toolbox). Proficiency with statistical analysis and analytic software (e.g. SPSS, STATA, SAS) will also confer an advantage.

Strong interpersonal skills, excellent technical abilities, prior research experience, and a high level of organization with careful attention to detail are absolutely required.
Demonstrable pre-existing interest in cognitive/affective neuroscience is highly desirable. Graphic design skills would also be considered a plus, but are not required for consideration. This position requires a high degree of motivation and self-sufficiency, although training and supervision will be provided.
