When does inspiration become imitation?

We would like to hear your thoughts about the nature, issues, and extent of visual plagiarism by completing our short online survey at:
https://survey.ucreative.ac.uk/spot

The survey aims to collate the experiences and perceptions of teaching staff, senior management, library staff, and academic support staff in the arts education sector surrounding the issue of visual plagiarism, which is the subject of relatively little research compared to its text-based counterpart.

The results of this survey will feed into the Spot the Difference! project which is a collaboration between the Visual Arts Data Service (VADS) at the University for the Creative Arts, and the Centre for Vision, Speech, and Signal Processing (CVSSP) at the University of Surrey.  The data collected through this survey will be used to write a research report on visual plagiarism and to inform the development of a pilot identification tool.

The survey is aimed at staff working in specialist creative arts universities and colleges, as well as those working in the creative arts within multidisciplinary institutions.  It can be filled in anonymously and will be open throughout August 2011.  Please forward this survey on to any colleagues who may be interested in taking part.

If you have any questions or would like to provide further comments on any of the issues raised, please contact VADS at 01252 892723 or [log in to unmask]

Thank you for your time.
