We are taking it further as in common with other subscribers I object to my personal details being harvested by recruitment consultancies. It is a misuse of the resource and may well be a breach of the Data Protection Act – I may well check it out with Diana Kloss when I next see her.

I am writing this email in my capacity as one of the list managers. I wonder how many other subscribers to the JISC list has received  unsolicited email below from this recruitment company, The Locum Agency.

 As we do not allow advertising on JISC recruitment agencies are finding other streams of free advertising. My suspicion is that there has been a misuse of the list, I know that Kevin Maguire who co-manages the list has received the same email. As Kevin is an organisational psychologist he is unlikely to consider a post as an OHA so a personal recommendation is unlikely. I suspect that someone from The Locum Agency has copied our personal email addresses from any postings we have made and then targeted us.

I replied to the email asking who had recommended me, unsurprisingly I did not get a response  confirming my suspicions. If a misuse of JISC has been the source of these emails then in fairness to subscribers from other recruitment agencies we will suspend their membership.
