Dear all,

My local trust are evaluating their current guidelines RE: EFM, and are considering whether it is necessary to listen to the FH using a Pinard’s before a CTG recording.  I personally feel this is sensible to ensure we are recording the FH, I know we can feel the maternal pulse to differentiate between the two, but feel using a pinard is good practice.

I have looked for research regarding the above but cannot tie the two together. Does anyone else know of any literature?

Many Thanks
