Subject: Cultural factors that affect the use of maternity care services

Dear Colleagues,

We are currently working with a multi-disciplinary team on a systematic review of interventions undertaken to address cultural factors that affect the uptake of maternity care services. In addition to WHO, the team includes representatives of Oxford Brookes University, Norwegian Knowledge Centre and Southampton University.

We are contacting you to request your help in locating any published studies or grey materials [for example, project reports, thesis] which we are unlikely to find via the database searches to be undertaken as part of the review. In addition we would be grateful if you could send us the contact information of agencies involved in ongoing programmes that focus on addressing cultural factors that affect the use of maternity care services.

Megan Ledger, who is doing her doctoral studies at Southampton University, has been working with us on the search strategy. She is doing separate work for her dissertation that will focus on cultural factors that affect the use of family planning services and methods. She would also appreciate receiving any contacts or papers related to that area.

Our sincere thanks in advance for your assistance. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you should require more details, and please feel free to circulate this request to others.

Best wishes,

Annie Portela
