BMFMS Bursaries 2011

Since its inception the BMFMS has aimed to improve standards in pregnancy care across professional boundaries. With these goals in mind the BMFMS Executive Committee are therefore delighted to announce that application forms for this year’s bursaries are now available. Successful bursary applications will now be recognized by the NIHR.

Bursaries are available to BMFMS members of all professions and seniority. All applications will be considered on merit and will be awarded in two different categories:

1.        Research/Audit bursaries:

These are designed to help ‘pump prime’ pilot research projects, to set-up a local/national database etc. These awards will be up to a maximum value of £5000.

Please note the following;

a.      The applicant must be a member of the BMFMS at the time of application.

b.      If the bursary is to be used in conjunction with other funds, proof of the existence of such funds are needed before the bursary application can be considered.

c.      Bursary applications for non-clinician scientists are welcomed.

There will also be the Richard Johannson Award that will be open for trainees only.

2.        Travel  bursaries:

These are designed to fund travel to different institutions for academic or professional development (up to a maximum of £1000).

Successful candidates will be asked to write a report of their experience which will be posted on the BMFMS website; they may also be asked to give a brief presentation of their experience gained at the Annual Conference.

The deadline for applications is 1st November 2011. Please submit all applications on the attached application form which can be downloaded from the Website.

Dear Kim and Melissa (and Mark for information)

Please find attached notification of this year's bursary and travel awards. Please could this note be sent to all members together with the application form. Melissa - please could you up-load this on to the website.

Mark - as you know I won't be at the next exec meeting ( we are holding a splinter meeting in Dubrovnic!) but thought you should be aware that I was planning to send this out this week. Perhaps you could confirm to Kim and Melissa you are happy with the above before it is actioned?

Many thanks all
