Venue: Frenchay Campus, University of the West of England (map of location: http://bit.ly/o3ck5x)

Date: Thursday, 8 September, 2011 - 09:30 - 16:30

Course Outline: Suppose a friend has been offered the chance of lifetime: a fantastic insider deal on an acquisition that will make them a millionaire if they get in quick. Your instinct says it’s a scam but where can you find the evidence that will convince them? Is the company proposing to replace your double glazing financially sound and reliable? Or perhaps you have been asked for information on starting up as a commercial lupin grower and the potential market. Where do you go? The number of sites providing business information seems to increase daily and some are offering free access. How reliable are they, and what level of quality can you expect from them? This hands-on workshop will take you through both the key free and priced resources for tracking down information on companies, industry sectors and market research. There will be practical sessions throughout the day so that you can try out some of the sites for yourself.
