Lucy, Comment below from the person who manages our mobile service seems to corroborate the 18 month lifespan theory. Hugh I have a whole folder on battery problems with mobile libraries! Our 2 newer mobiles have 12/225 AGM batteries, and they have lasted 3 years on the Children's Mobile Library and only 18 months on the Public mobiles. The reason being every time these batteries are charged it is called a cycle, and these AGM batteries work efficiently on approx 150 cycles, so if they are charged up every night for a year then it is 364 cycles, which is why they start failing at around 18 months. The Children's Mobile lasts longer because it is not charged during the holidays so much. Anything over 18 months is regarded as good. So 18 months on the Luton mobiles is about right in my experience thanks, Hugh Hugh Paton Development Manager (Libraries) London Borough of Bexley Tel: 020 3045 4534 Internal: 4534 Mobile: 07837 270 017 ________________________________ From: lis-pub-libs: UK Public Libraries [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Cross, Lucy Sent: 02 August 2011 13:51 To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Mobile library batteries Hi All, I hope you can answer this question! How long do your batteries last? I refer to the main battery-supplied power source. Ours have just lasted 18 months and we are wondering whether this is a standard length of time or whether our batteries are little insipid!!
