Thank you to everyone who responded to my request for information/views
on Library Apps. The picture appears to be that whilst apps are becoming
more wide spread in England, here in Scotland only Edinburgh so far have
one up and running. East Renfrewshire and South Ayrshire both have an
app in the pipeline but no one else in Scotland seems ready to take the
plunge. I didn't receive very many replies but amongst those Authorities
who did reply and have an app in use they were generally enthusiastic
about the potential added value. However because in these cases the apps
were new, there appears to be very little hard evidence yet of impact.
If anyone reading this does have evidence I would be delighted to hear
from you. Other than that it seems to be the case that some Authorities
are diving in whilst others are waiting to learn from their experience.

A special thanks to Anne Maskell in Surrey for pointing me to the
article by Jon Fletcher Mobile Webpages vs. Mobile Apps: What's right
for your user?

Thank you all,

Eddy
