Hi Sally Good to hear from you. Enjoy your meeting with WI members! Their support is invaluable so getting their commitment out in the open and into areas of influence will be vital. Breaking down the barriers within the profession in order to provide better information and resources to anyone who needs them is at the heart of the work of Inspire. Hoping to join the chat on Thursday but I have promised to give a talk to our local WI on libraries and how they can best support them in the light of their National resolution on this. However, it's good to see this topic explored. There should be much closer collaboration across the different library sectors. In fact there should be more collaboration across the sectors in which we operate library services e.g. Learning and Education: schools; public; college; university libraries etc or The Economy: academic; public; business etc or Community Wellbeing and Social Justice: public, prison, schools, academic, health and so on. If your generation of librarians can energise imaginative approaches to the sharing of information, knowledge and learning and innovation in library and information provision that will make for a more sustainable future. It is also the case that CILIP as a librarian membership body is the only national agency that could promote this thinking among dedicated and forward-looking members in all areas of our industry and to stakeholder communities beyond. There other barriers too but more anon . Have a good chat!
