I've heard the "copyright function" described as many things in my time. "Ordinary" has never been one of the adjectives used, however.

I'm happy to languish in the spam folder if this is the last word I hear about this on this list. ...

Subject: Re: British Standards Online Database

Ben,

thank you very much indeed for having acknowledged the problem after I alerted your Chief Executive's Office earlier Today since I had found some email messages ridiculing or diminishing the question inappropriate, for two reasons.

First of all, as a frequent British Library User, Practitioner and Independent Scholar I have limited time and resources. Keeping up efficiently with primary sources is a critical factor.

Secondly, in this occasion it seemed to me that such a disruption in providing access to the British Standards Online Database for more than three weeks confirms that you do not have a copyright assurance function or officer role for which the British Library pretended to interview me two years ago - and made me appearing in front of the national and international community not enough competent for such an ordinary post. Those "intricacies" in renegotiation of database licences and related risks of interruption of services are exactly what a copyright assurance function could and should prevent, strengthening the Library capabilities.

Looking forward to hearing more positive news. Regards

Brunella Longo

P.S. Your message together with a message from Aberdeen University has been classified as spam by Yahoo, not delivered to my smarthphone this afternoon. I have just recovered both from the bin now.
