My client is looking to appoint a (GIS) Desktop Support Analyst to provide first line technical support to their customers.

The role will include the following work activities;
Communication
- Receive and respond to all initial technical enquires from my clients customers
- Listen to, understand, question and analyse customer issues
- Accurately record customer issues in supporting systems gathering appropriate data and information to assist in the call resolution.
- Diagnose, analyse and reproduce customer issues to ensure understanding of root cause of software issues.
- Ensure that customers are kept appraised of progress with their issues in a timely fashion.
- Communicate with the Support Managers to ensure progress is understood for all issues.
Company and Teamwork
- Ensure that information from customers is clear and understood when logging calls, that may be picked up by other analyst so that they can start work immediately
- Works with third parties to gain support to resolve customer support calls
- Ensures that relevant stake holders are kept informed of progress with calls as appropriate
Technology
- Work with senior analysts to extend technical knowledge and resolve customer questions.
- Keep up to date with latest GIS developments and technology.
Ideally you will have a degree in geography, GIS or Computer Sciences or relevant industrial based experience in a technical GIS field of a minimum of 1 year, or equivalent relevant experience.
Ideal Experience
- 1 year’s experience of working with customers over the telephone in a technical support environment.
- Experience of using GIS tools and applications.
- The role is technical and requires the individual to be both analytical and customer facing.
This role includes work in a telephone based environment when logging and answering support calls.
The individual in this role needs to be able to work individually but also within a team to help others answer customers queries and problems.
