you're right, but Gasparini's thesis is atypical. His "Matriarchy" is more complex and specific only of the ancient layer of slavs, survived sometimes in the folklore. Indeed this is, nowadays, the least acceptable pattern of the book; but it doeas not damage its organic, rigorous, comparative and ethnological importance. D.

Hi there,

I'm wondering about this term 'matriarchy'? I was under the impression that anthropologists had never come across a matriarchal society. (Excuse me if I'm barking up the wrong tree and you're actually talking about supernatural beings, but if you're talking about humans, then I'm still asking the question).
