Postdoctoral Opening in Neuroscience/MR physics

Research scientist/post doctoral positions available immediately at UC Berkeley in the general area of neuroscience, MR physics, functional imaging and diffusion imaging and specifically in MR physics of pulse sequences for echo planar imaging, 3D imaging, fMRI and HARDI. The work will be to advance neuroscience methodology including new data analyses for task fMRI, resting state, and fiber track imaging utilizing the new high temporal resolution image pulse sequences (for example see: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21187930). The position is to conduct cutting edge research in neurosciences and MR physics at a level of international recognition. Candidates are sought with a strong background in cognitive science, cognitive neuroscience, vision science or cognitive/computer modeling. Highly desirable is experience in MRI physics, pulse sequences and programming skills (C++, Matlab, Siemens sequence Ideas software).

The majority of work will be conducted at the 3T Siemens scanner with 32-channel receiver system at at UC Berkeley. Opportunities to work on the 7 T and 10.5T at University of Minnesota will also be available. The work is funded in part by the NIH Human Connectome Project to optimize fMRI and diffusion HARDI imaging and to explore new methods of 2D and 3D imaging at 3T and high field. The projects are a part of research conducted by Advanced MRI Technologies in collaboration with Siemens, University of California at Berkeley and other institutes involved in the NIH Human Connectome Project. The position is for one year with possibility of extension.
