Job Advertisement: Closing Date 14th August 2011 Geothermal Geophysicist Specialist Taupo, New Zealand We are seeking geophysicists to join the expanding geothermal team at GNS Science (Wairakei Research Centre, Taupo). The successful candidate will contribute his or her specialist skills to our domestic and international exploration and field evaluation geothermal projects, and ongoing funded geoscience research programmes. The position requires a high level of understanding and application of geophysical and resource assessment methods to geothermal systems and a demonstrated ability and interest in research and applied geoscience consultancy. The ideal candidate(s) will have: - Ph.D in geophysics (or physics, and / or engineering). - Background in some of the following: electrical methods, surface geothermal expression quantification, gravity, geothermal resource evaluation, resource modelling. - High level mathematical skills. - Knowledge and experience in GIS and mapping systems. - Demonstrated communication skills both written and oral are required. - The role will in time require staff management experience. - Excellent organisational skills. - Ability to work and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams. - Demonstrated ability to develop proposals and attain funding. - Demonstrated ability to network and develop client relationships. - Willingness to work offshore or in field situations.
