The BPS Division of Neuropsychology (DoN) is launching the new
Faculty of Paediatric Neuropsychology with an inaugural conference on Monday 10th
October 2011. In recent years there have been significant developments in the
science, practice and training of paediatric neuropsychologists. Therefore the
DoN now considers it timely to develop a Faculty that can help organise andsupport the increasing public and professional interest in this rapidly
developing field.
The aims of the faculty are to represent the opinion of
paediatric neuropsychologists and professional practice within the UK with
specific reference to:
·
Practice and policy (e.g. response to clinical
guidelines etc.)
·
Standards in research methodology (e.g. outcome
measures in clinical trials).
·
Response to clinical developments.
·
Identification of training needs (primary
training and CPD) and workforce issues (staffing levels, expertise).
·
Effective liaison with stakeholders and
professional bodies (e.g. British Paediatric Neurology Association) and
government bodies.
The initial steering committee will develop the foundations
of the Faculty until nominations can be called for officers and committee
positions in formal elections later in the year.
