Monitoring Parents: Science, evidence, experts and the new parenting culture


This event takes place on 13th and 14th September at the University of Kent



Critical assessment of the rise of ‘brain science’ as a theme in parenting policy and parenting culture comprises a special focus for this timely event.


The event also features more than 30 papers reflecting on other aspects of the rise of ‘parenting science’ and the ‘parenting expert’, including contributions by colleagues from Canada, the US, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium Spain, Italy, Australia, as well as England, Wales and Scotland. Topics that will be addressed include the relationship between parenting and education; infant feeding; discipline; the sexualisation debate; policy and early intervention; fatherhood; surrogacy; adoption; PGD; and discipline.
