School of Media, Film and Music

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Media and Communication/Journalism Studies Permanent, full time

Salary range: Lecturer A starting at £32,751 and rising to £35,788 per annum      

Lecturer B starting at £36,862 and rising to £44,016 per annum      

Senior Lecturer starting at £45,336 and rising to £52,556 per annum      

Expected start date  1 January 2012

Interviews are expected to be held in early September

 

The School of Media, Film and Music wishes to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to play a key role in the design and delivery of the School’s MA programmes in Journalism and BA programmes in Media and Communication. The successful candidate will be able to teach in the specialist areas of news, journalism and the public sphere, as well as contribute to core teaching in media and communication studies. They will have an excellent research profile, the ability to work in partnership with both academic and non-academic colleagues, and knowledge of new developments in media and journalism.

Membership is open to all who teach and research these subjects in HE institutions, via either institutional or individual membership. The field includes film and TV production, journalism, radio, photography, creative writing, publishing, interactive media and the web; and it includes higher education for media practice as well as for media studies.
